MGI PhotoSuite II supports the industry-wide TWAIN specification for scanners, digital cameras, and other photo input devices that you may have attached to your computer.

Note:

This option applies only to cameras supporting TWAIN. Note, however, that several makes and models of cameras are supported directly by MGI PhotoSuite II. Refer to the Readme file on the MGI PhotoSuite II CD-ROM for a list of directly-supported cameras.

To connect the digital camera to the computer:

  1. With both the computer and digital camera turned off, connect the digital camera to the computer's communications port. We suggest that you carefully read the instructions that came with the camera before connecting it to the computer.

  2. Turn the computer on. When it is finished booting, load MGI PhotoSuite II.

  3. Turn the camera on.


To communicate with the camera:

  1. In MGI PhotoSuite II, click the Photos button on the Navigation panel if you wish to edit the photos. Click the Albums button if you wish to add the photos to a photo album.

  2. Click the Get Photo icon located below the buttons. If you clicked the Albums button, make sure that you open an existing album, or create a new one, before getting the photos from the camera.

  3. Click Digital Camera - TWAIN in the flyout of options displayed.

  4. Select the correct TWAIN driver from the TWAIN Device list.

  5. Click the Get Photo button to activate the TWAIN software that was installed with the camera.

Note: MGI PhotoSuite II supports several makes and models of cameras directly. Refer to the Readme file on the MGI PhotoSuite II CD-ROM for a list of directly-supported cameras.


To download photos from a TWAIN-supporting camera:

  1. Click the Photos button on the Navigation panel if you wish to edit the photo. Click the Albums button if you wish to add the photo to a photo album.

  2. Click the Get Photo icon located below the buttons.

  3. Select Digital Camera - Twain from the flyout of options displayed.

  4. Select the correct TWAIN driver from the TWAIN Device list.

  5. Click the Get Photo button to activate the TWAIN software that was installed with the camera. The photos stored in the camera's memory are displayed in a window as thumbnails.

    Note: To open a photo for editing purposes, double-click its thumbnail, or click its thumbnail once, and click the Open button. The selected photo is opened and displayed in the Work area.
